Visually, the car: the Audi A5 DTM has a flatter and more compact than its successful predecessor. At just 1.15 meters, the race-A5 makes 1,95 meters wide and stretches in an identical for all DTM cars wheelbase of 2750 millimeters to 5.01 meters.
Because the amended regulations additional wing at the rear and a flow through the body are no longer allowed, the visual reference to the standard model becomes stronger. The powerful rear wing which should ensure a stronger wind shadow and therefore better for overtaking, of course, remains.
The carbon body is supported by a chassis of hybrid design that carries through the combination of carbon fiber monocoque and steel cage to the particularly high security requirements of the racing series statement.
In addition, the chassis is one of more than 50 components which are identical in all DTM vehicles. "Through these shared components it was possible to achieve the targeted cost reduction of up to 40 percent," explains Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich.
